PERSONAL DATA:

Dr. Fissel graduated first in his class from The Pennsylvania State University and second in his class form The Pennsylvania College of Optometry. While in optometry school, he received numerous scholastic and clinical awards. He is active in local optometric associations and attends numerous continuing education seminars to stay up-to-date with all the latest advancements in refractive surgery, contact lenses and eye disease treatment. He also loves to travel and has been active in bodybuilding.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS: DC Optometric Society; Virginia Optometric Society; Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry; American Optometric Association; Southeastern Council of Optometrist. Past member of the North Carolina Optometric Society. For 10 years Dr. Foley served as the vice-chair of the HEADSTART Health Advisory Committee in Kannapolis, NC.

PERSONAL DATA:

Dr. Foley moved back to the DC area in June 2007. He spent many years in and around the DC metro area during his educational years. In 1993 he followed a career path that took him to North Carolina. From 1993-2007 he spent many years in an Ophthalmology surgical center that put him in a working relationship with a group of highly regarded specialist. He was honored to have hospital privileges given to him at NorthEast Hospital in Concord, NC. Thru this unique opportunity Dr. Foley has an interest in non-surgical ocular disease/trauma management. With his direct working relationships with top cataract, glaucoma, pediatric, retina, and oculo-plastic specialist he is well versed in co-management issues. Dr. Foley was also considered the contact lens specialist of that practice for the more challenging pediatric and ocular disease fits. Dr. Foley has always been active within various aspects of his profession. He has given educational lectures and has been published in optometric literature.

Dr. Foley is an avid triathlete and has competed in countless events, including 3 Ironman distance events. Since moving back to the DC area he has become involved with a master's level swim program and competes with a multi-sport race team for the Bike Rack. Dr. Foley believes in an integrative approach to health maintenance to include a balance of nutrition, flexibility (various forms of Yoga), and multisport/cross training exercise. Dr. Foley has a natural passion for international travel, culture, cuisine, and languages.

PERSONAL DATA:

After 42 years of practice, Dr. Reed is slowing to a 2-3 day work week. He is still very active in local and state associations of Optometry. He attends numerous education seminars on new techniques and new developments in contact lenses. He specializes in contact lens fittings and has a reputation among his peers for being very knowledgeable in the field on contact lenses, especially in difficult fits. Dr Reed enjoys spending his leisure time reading, traveling, cooking and working out in the gym.
